Flame Propagation Test (Single)


General Information  
Test of the fire behavior on a single core or a single cable, Flame retardant.
(IEC 60332-1)
Time for flame application:

The wire or cable shall pass the test, if the distance between the lower edge of the top support and the onset of charring is greater than 50 mm. All soot is to be ignored. Softening or the non-metallic is also to be ignored. 
Kind of test using the equipment: 
- Flame Spread test on Single Cables. (IEC 60332-1)

Flame Propagation Test (Bunched)


General Information  
Samples / Time for flame application:  
No. of the samples (each3.5 m long) is Calculated as follows:  
• Cat. A: 7 l/m, Time > 40 min.  
• Cat. B: 3.5 l/m, Time > 40 min.  
• Cat. C: 1.5 l/m, Time > 20 m in.  
(Total volume of non-metal material in ...liter / meter)  

The cable shall pass the test, if the created flames are self extinguishing and the maximum extent of the charred portion measured on the sample shall not have reached a height exceeding 2.5 m above the bottom edge of the burner. All soot is to be ignored if, when wiped off, the original surface is undamaged. Softening or any deformation of the non metallic is also to be ignored.

Oxygen Index



General Information  
Measuring the minimum oxygen concentration to support candle-like combustion of plastics.
The oxygen index describes the minimum concentration of oxygen, expressed as volume percentage, in a mixture of oxygen and nitrogen that will just support combustion of a material / plastic / compound initially at room temperature under specified test conditions.

- Oxygen Index Test. (ISO 4589-2)

Carbon Black Content Test


General Information  
For the specify carbon black filler in the compound PE (Polyethylene) insulation and
sheathing.  
This Instrument is in according to ASTM, BS, or ISO, according to customer’s
required specification.

- Carbon Black Content Test. (IEC 60811-4-1)

Smoke Density Tester


General Information 
- Measurement of smoke density of cables burning under defined conditions,
  smoke density.(IEC 61034 -1 & -2)

The ‘’3 meter cube test’’ measures the generation of smoke from electric cables during fire. The tray containing the alcohol shall be supported above the ground surface to permit air circulation around and beneath the tray. The test pieces (cables or bundles) shall laid touching in a horizontal position and centre above the tray. The air circulation will be started and the alcohol (1 liter) will be ignited. The light intensity will be measured between the light source and the photocell. The test is considered as ended when there is no decrease in light transmittance for 5 minutes after the fire source has extinguished or when the test duration reaches 40 minutes. The test will be passed, if the recorded light transmittance is min. 60% that means the smoke density has a value of max. 40%.

Technical specifications  
- Light source.
The light source shall be a halogen lamp with a tungsten filament with a clear quartz bulb having the following characteristics:
  - Nominal power: 100 W
  - Nominal voltage: 12 V
  - Nominal luminous flux: 2000 ~ 3000 lm
  - Nominal colour temperature: 2800 ~ 3200 K

- The receptor photocell, the receptor shall be mounted at the end of 150mm tube
  with a dust protection window at the other hand. The inside of the tube with the
  diameter 40 mm shall be matt black to prevent reflections. The output of the
  photocell is applied to data acquired and analyzed by the operation system.

Halogen Content Tester


General Information
In case of burning of conventional plastic-cables, e.g. with PVC insulation and sheath, huge quantities of corrosive and toxic gases will be generated. Considerable damage of persons (respiratory tract, poisoning) and real values (corrosion) is not to rule out. The object must be, to minimize the damage and the resulting costs of a fire.
1. Determination of the amount of halogen acid gas, HCL-Emission. (IEC 60754-1)
This test specifies a method for the determination of the degree of acidity of gases evolved during combustion of cables by measuring pH and conductivity. The performance requirement of this standard state the weighted pH value should not be less then 4.3 related to 1 liter of water and the weighted value of conductivity should not exceed 10 µS/mm. Determination of the amount of halogen acid evolved during the combustion of each combustible material of a cable. For materials, which contain less than 5 mg/g (0,5 %) of halogen acid, the test procedure acc. to IEC 60754-2 is recommended.

This test doesn‘t show, whether a material is zero

Fire Resistant Test

General Information
- Fire Alone (IEC 60331)
A cable sample of 1200 mm in length is placed over a gas burner and connected to an electrical supply at it’s rated voltage. Fire is applied for a period of 3 hours. The temperature on the cable is between 750 & 800. After 3 hours, the fire and the power is switched off. 12 hours later, the cable sample is re-energized and must maintain it’s circuit integrity.

Conductors are connected to a separate phase of a transformer output with a 2 A fuse with the nominal voltage Uo/U. Where metallic sheath, armour or screen acts as a neutral or protective conductor, it shall be connected as for a neutral or protective conductor. After the test duration of 90 minutes the burner will be switched off but the cable sample shall remain energized for further 15 min. The total test duration shall be the flame application time together with the 15 min cooling period. The test will be passed if during the course of the test no fuse fails and a conductor does not rupture, i.e. the lamp is not extinguished.

Cold Chamber

General Information

Oven For Hot Set

General Information 
LHX-type electric aging test applies GB/T2951-2008 “cable and cable insulation and sheathing materials common test method” standard for the wire or cable insulation and sheathing materials required after sampling the aging temperature test occasion. Also used for high pressure, hot temperature tests that require an extension of the occasion. Equivalent to IEC 60811 standard, instead of GB/T2951-1997 standards.
